so, this past Wednesday, i picked Janna up from g-ma's and came home to find him standing under the overhead heater in the bathroom shaking like a leaf. his fingers from the knuckles down were completley white, he could not get warm and mind you it hit around 80 degrees this day. so, since this had been a recurring thing, i shoot Janna right back to g-ma's and take off with Joe to an immediate care facility. we had to wait quite awhile and once seen they did an EKG to rule out anything heart related because of his history. well it looked weird to them since he has a tet repair and some re-routing/heart murmur anyway.
happens that on the way there i called Duke and got connected with the cardiologist on call, which was Dr. Bashore - yes, Joe's cardiologist! in fear of seeming that we may be over-reacting, i emphasized that this is the 3rd or 4th time he's had a sudden fever lately. Bashore affirms that we should continue our trip and suggests that they do blood cultures and call Duke as well if need be.
well, the immediate care doctor really did not want to see Joe - after performing the EKG, he calls for an ambulance to take him to Wake Med. this was really probably not necessary but he was being cautious and also hoped that it would help in gettig Joe seen sooner rather than later at the ER, since we'd alreay waited so long at his place. well, that did not work. i could see him nearly the whole time as i was following the ambulance and making phone calls along the way to update everyone. he felt really bad to ride in the ambulance when so many others may have needed it. most all of his symptoms had subsided by this time and he couldn't claim he was having chest pains so we, along with most of Wake County, sat in the ER...waiting, and waiting.
we both were coming up on BIG days; me a dog and pony show at work for the new buyers/merger that we are anticipating. Joe a test at 1pm for schooling he had thru work. SO, knowing that i had to arrive at work around 4am to get the process going, Joe started feeling terrible and finally signed himself out and refused treatment. it made me wonder if he was the first ever to arrive by ambulance and refuse treatment ;) they were calling no one back! it was a terrible wait. we were home right around midnight and yes i thought to pack my baby girl a snack for school around midnight thirty as Joe begged me not to floss my teeth for one night of the year.
so, on a 2 hour nap, i made my commute and the process went smooth, the 'interview'/tour by our potential buyers went off without a hitch (the lab i am responsible for was being looked over along with other R&D areas). i made it home around 1pm just as Janna was arriving from school/lunch with Joe's parents.
since Janna had not seen us except for about 10 minutes the day before, i take her for a nap in our bed. she really wanted to jump and play but finally she gave in and we slept for a much needed 3 hours. and just to make sure that i was thankful for all things, she wet thru her pull-up and soaked our bed :) meanwhile, Joe sat in a classroom figuring thru difficult math problems (taking Ibuprofen througout the day). this particular class has a 29% passing rate - really hard math! he made a 61 originally and this day was the repeat test. he feels that he did well - he'll find out soon. if not he can take the class again later in the year. if he did indeed pass, he'll get another raise at work :)
so, back to the fevers. we see family doctor Friday and it's finally decided that he has prostacitis (prostate infection). puts him on a powerful antibiotic for 2 weeks and also does blood cultures to be on the safe side. we are praying that this is clear soon so he can get back to feeling well and not have to wonder when a fever is going to pop on him. if you made it to the end of this, God bless you. we are back to 'normal' now :) whatever that is :) and all blood cultures for Joe were negative - YAY!
here's a picture of Janna wanting to ditch her stick pony and go outside for a real ride - maybe soon baby girl - the rain is suppose to clear sometime this week. excuse her nose - her heavy school backpack toppled her over and she ate the sidewalk at school. snow delayed school pictures a couple of weeks ago so hopefully her nose will be healed up by retake day on March 31st :)

Thanks for your sweet comments about my Dad. He is such a neat guy. You'd like him. :-)
Will you be going to the next MNO? I think it's in your neck of the woods.
