You started a 4 year old Kindergarten class today (a short aquaintance 3 hour day) baby girl! You start full 6 hour days next week. You went right in and started doodling on a magnetic board thingy. You greeted your new teachers and finally you did stop long enough to hug and kiss me bye-bye. Mrs. Wendy Smith and Ms. Sharon Herring (your new teachers) said that you had a wonderful day! You even pee-peed in the toilet for them, ate your cereal and lunch like a big girl, and joined right in with the music/dancing, etc. It sounds like you guys had a fun day!
Your PT from Edgewood came in around the time for you to leave and you were calling her name, "Martie, Martie", except you were saying "Partie Partie", but she knew who you were calling. You haven't seen her ALL summer yet you didn't forget such a wonderful person! Sadly, we had the transition meeting today and that's why Martie was there. It was a very hard decision for mommy and daddy - to take you from your developmental school and place you in this More at Four Program.
You are in a class of 18 kids, 16 are typically developing kids and 2 of you are exceptional. We are excited for you and know you will do well. You will continue to have speech therapy twice a week, occupational therapy once a week and they will kinda check on you quarterly for physical therapy growth. Gross motor is definitely your strength, along with being social Mrs. Martie said :) We did get to keep your OT from Edgewood as she works for the county now so we're really happy to have Mrs. Tammy Malone again this year for OT! Not only will she focus on helping you with fine motor skills, she will help you improve your upper body strength. Your new ST will be Mrs. Renfroe and we look forward to getting to know her and learning from her as well. Mrs. Maggi will also get to see you twice a week - to help you with matching things, sorting things, and other fun developmental tasks.
We are so blessed that you have such wonderful teachers and therapists! We thank God for planning the way and helping us to make good decisions for you. You are a very sweet and smart girl and we are very proud of you! I forgot to bring my camera this am but I will get some pictures of you next week with your new teachers and classroom.
Love, mama & daddy
